Moving your servers to Azure: what virtual machines change for your business

Lower costs, better reliability, room to grow and security built in: what moving your servers to Azure virtual machines changes, and how we go about it.

Are you looking for ways to reduce your IT costs and make your systems more reliable and faster? Moving your servers to Microsoft Azure is often the most direct route. Azure virtual machines (VMs) run the operating systems and applications you use today, without you having to buy or maintain physical hardware. They offer:

  • Lower costs. You pay only for what you use. Reservations lower the price of servers that run all the time, your existing Windows Server and SQL Server licences can be reused through Azure Hybrid Benefit, and Azure Spot Virtual Machines offer deep discounts for work that can be interrupted. Microsoft Cost Management shows where the money goes.
  • Reliability and performance. Secure, scalable compute capacity for any workload, with automatic scaling, redundant storage by default and fast backup and restore.
  • Flexibility and compatibility. A wide range of sizes and types, for Windows and Linux, so your existing workloads move to Azure with minimal disruption.
  • Security and compliance. Microsoft’s investment in cybersecurity and threat intelligence, Azure’s compliance certifications, and built-in tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud. Azure Arc brings the servers that stay on your own premises under the same management.

What changes in practice

Moving to Azure takes the hardware refresh cycle out of your budget and replaces large, infrequent investments with a monthly cost that follows your use. Remote work and collaboration become easier, because your applications no longer depend on one building. And new technology becomes something you can try: a test environment for an artificial intelligence (AI) service or a new application costs a few days of consumption instead of a hardware purchase.

How we work

We start by mapping your servers, what they run and what they depend on. From there we size each workload for Azure, plan the migration in waves that keep your business running, and set up the management, security and cost controls that keep the environment healthy afterwards.

We have focused on Microsoft Azure from the start, and we are happy to show what it can do for your business.
